My journey into health and fitness started at the age of 12 when I ditched football for rugby. I began playing for Middlesbrough RUFC moving up the age grades collecting representative honours along the way, until my first game for the Senior 1st XV at the age of 17. After a couple of games at this level I realised I needed to get stronger, this is when my passion for training began. Over the off season I began to read everything and anything I could find on strength and conditioning for sport, I worked hard using the knowledge I had gained and noticed the difference in my performance over the following seasons
Throughout my years at School, Sixth Form and University, I have enjoyed taking part in a variety of sports, focusing on Rugby and Tennis whilst competing in a number of both team and individual competitions.
Prior to taking the role of a coach, I worked within Human Resources, dealing with people on a day to day basis. Developing and enhancing my skills within People Management.
Since the age of 6 I have played Rugby Union and on that journey have represented Durham County at senior level as well as playing semi-professionally for several local clubs. In recent years, I made the progression from player to coach and have 5 years’ experience of coaching at first team level. I have always been extremely passionate about sport and physical activity and in particular the social, physical and mental benefits of performing.
